Have you been waiting to buy a home because you thought prices would go down? That might not be the best strategy.
Although in many areas prices have gone down, that’s not the case in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. But, interest rates have gone down as well. So that more expensive house may cost you less on a monthly basis. Why wait to buy?

I agree with almost everything in this article, but how much down payment you need. In the Washington, DC Metro area, if you’re buying a house for less than $625,000, you can get a FHA loan in which you only put 3.5% of the sales price down. You’ll also need another 3% to pay for closing costs, but we can sometimes negotiate to have the seller pay for this.
